Dr. Christopher Halbrook, PhD is an Assistant Professor at the University of California Irvine (UCI) in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. In this position, he holds memberships in the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, UCI Cancer Research Institute, and the UCI Institute for Immunology. His training combined animal models and primary cell cultures with metabolomics to explore crosstalk in pancreatic diseases. Using these techniques, his research has led to seminal findings describing different mechanisms of signaling and metabolic crosstalk with functional consequences on tumor growth, chemoresistance, and immune suppression in pancreatic cancer. The goal of his current research program is to identify key nodes of signaling and metabolism required for pancreatic cancer growth that can be disrupted to develop new and more effective therapies.
