Research Interest
Research within my laboratory focuses on three main themes:
- coronavirus-host interactions in wildlife reservoir species, such as bats
- coronavirus-host interactions in spillover species, such as humans, and
- viral vaccine and therapeutic development.
Specifically, we study two highly pathogenic coronaviruses, Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
We harness data from our virus-host interaction studies to develop next generation countermeasures against emerging viruses.
