IRIC Next Generation Competition

Application deadline: December 9th, 2024 at 9:00 AM EST

The research institute IRIC of Université de Montréal recently launched the 2025 edition of its IRIC Next Generation Competition. This program offers scholarships to undergraduate students to complete a 12-to-16-week internship at IRIC in life science research during the summer 2025.This program is open to students (Canadians, permanent residents of Canada or international student already present in Canada and holding a valid study permit for the duration of the internship) enrolled in the following programs:

  • Biochemistry
  • Bioinformatics
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Biopharmaceutic Sciences
  • Cell Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Sciences
  • Molecular Biology
  • Microbiology and Immunology
  • Physics

Two virtual information sessions will take place on 
Tuesday, November 12th, 12:00 p.m. (Eastern time) in French and Wednesday, November 13th, 12:00 p.m. (Eastern time) in English.


Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s (CGS-M)

Application deadline: December 1st, 2024 before 5:00 PM PT

Applicants for Tri-Agency CGS-M competition must be domestic students (Canadian citizen or PR) who are applying for or enrolled in graduate studies anywhere in Canada. Each applicant can select up to 3 universities with the same application. To be considered for a CGS-M at UBC, they must select The University of British Columbia as one of the 3 available institutions.

Students who apply for CGS-M awards will automatically be considered for open/un-restricted Affiliated Fellowships. To be additionally considered for criteria-based/restricted Affiliated Fellowships, students should fill out and submit to their graduate programs the checklist available here.


UBC Healthy Aging Summer Student Research Award

Application deadline: January 17th, 2025

It is our pleasure to once again launch the Healthy Aging Summer Student Research Award competition. These awards are intended to support highly qualified undergraduate students across all disciplines and faculties who are interested in completing a research project that is relevant to the field of healthy aging. The award supports the student’s salary while they complete the research project over the summer (May to August) under the supervision of an Investigator of the Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Aging. This award is open to undergraduate students from all disciplines, including those enrolled in undergraduate health professional degree programs (e.g. MD, DMD, BScN, etc.). Students can be enrolled at any university to apply, but must be based in B.C for the duration of the award. Please see the attached documents for more information or our website.

The duration of the award is 8 to 16 consecutive weeks of full-time work (35 hours/week) to be completed between May 1 to August 31. The award amount is consistent with the BC minimum wage ($17.40/hour) for a total of $609.00/week. This award is open to undergraduate students from all disciplines, including those enrolled in undergraduate health professional degree programs (e.g. MD, DMD, BScN, etc.). Students can be enrolled in any university to apply, but must be based in B.C for the duration of the award.
