Third year Biochemistry student, Peter Wang awarded the Premier-Wesbrook Prize
This is a very prestigious UBC combined award, the Premier Undergraduate Scholarships and Wesbrook Scholars, only 20 such awards are made each year to cover all undergraduates across ALL faculties through years three and four. Peter was one of only three awardees in the whole of the Faculty of Science.

New Graduate Award: Ronnie Miller Graduate Scholarship in Personalized Medicine
Ronnie Miller Graduate Scholarship in Personalized Medicine
This award arises from a new joint initiative of Rx&D and Hoffman-LaRoche Canada to provide $50,000 over 5 years to support a graduate student studying personalized medicine in the Department of Biochemistry at UBC. The award is named to honour former Board Chairman, M. Ronnie Miller, to recognize his leadership in the field of life sciences and health research.
The current plan is to present the award during the annual meeting of the Canadian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences (CSPS), to be hosted at UBC this year from June 11 to 14. The theme of this year’s conference is Personalized Medicine and Ronnie Miller has been invited to speak on June 11.
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is extremely grateful to the donors for their exceptional generosity.

Adrienne Cheung – Completed MSc thesis
Congratulations Adrienne! She successfully defend her MSc thesis, “Structural and Functional Studies on GlcNAc-modified Tau”. Adrienne studied in Dr. Lawrence McIntosh’s lab.
